Is it a matter of principle? ‘tis or ‘tis not done…

Perhaps the rules of politeness, dictate whether or not should one…

Does it depend on the beverage, be it chilled, cold, warm or hot?

Or maybe the biscuit itself, suggests if one should or should not?

Will the twice-baked crumble, and slip down into cup?

Or can it withstand the pressure, and soak the liquid up?

The texture may benefit some, where softness lends appeal,

Whilst others find that crunchy, is by far a better feel…

I have seen those, who gently dunk, holding just a tiny crown,

And when it rises, wet and plump – they gobble it right down.

Then those that dunk in halves, no absorption though and through,

Half-in then out, and suck well dry, then dunk it in anew.

Which way you go, is up to you, your choice is yours alone,

The dregs will tell the story, your choices will be known.

So I say go on principle, no questions, no debate,

Dunking is an art form, we all should cultivate…
