Can I ask, if Michael Fallon thinks his behaviour has fallen short, then why is he not resigning as an MP? It is unclear at present of what he may be accused so judgement can only be made by him at the moment, but clearly he feels that the required standards for a member of parliament are less than the standards for a minister – else he would also stand down from the role of MP… I would like to hear his justification for that!

This is illustrative  that the powerful cannot be left to judge themselves!

  1. Clearly, he cannot admit to his actions without also providing evidence of his own guilt, therefore he hasn’t admitted to anything more than the journalist’s knee – which is no more than a distraction.
He knows what he has done and knows that if/when it comes out he will be publically pilloried, Mrs May has no definitive irrefutable evidence of his sins and needs all the parliamentary votes she can get (and more!) so she is effectively stuck with him et al.
The crunch might come when the local party organisation deselect these upright pillars of our society.
