It is reported that there is a deal being discussed between the Democrats and the Republicans concerning funding for a ‘wall’ on the southern border of the United States of America.  Instead of the requested $5.7bn, the President of the United States of America is apparently being offered $1.4bn for a further 55 miles of barrier.

Leaving aside the obvious fact that the border with Mexico extends some 1900 miles, just how much is this wall costing!?  55 miles of wall for $1.4bn equates to more than $25m per mile of wall!  If we extrapolate out to the whole border, this would mean that at toady’s prices, the wall would cost more than $47bn to build…  is it me or does that seem a little on the high side?
